In case the article on William Alexander's water management may have struck you as somewhat satirical, you may have noticed that we see the same drought propaganda circulating all over the world. Pictures of drought, however, appear to be taken in places such as tributaries of rivers that run dry every year, readers report that dams are being used to impound or channel water to reservoirs, and that's not counting weather influence techniques and possibly even image manipulation.
But then, isn't it really just very hot and dry? It is hot and dry more often than not, but it is now being accentuated and figures have been adjusted because KNMI has switched to a new type of weather station. The old figures have been changed to what they would have been when applying the new type of weather station cubicle, so suddenly dozens of past heat waves disappeared from the books. And because the fact checkers are just explaining that nicely, of course it is irrefutably true.
Whereas earlier we thought that gas, fuel and food would be the first to go on the ticket, now water seems to be the shortest hit. You don't have to blame the (somewhat dubious) war in Ukraine, but can much more sympathetically blame it on the climate and stick the 'global warming' label on it. That sells much easier and since all of the Netherlands is hooked up to the water supply anyway, you can measure consumption precisely with a smart meter.
You can ration water very easily. You can feed readings from the smart meter on the water line to an app and that way you can show people if they are in the green or red with their consumption. It might be going too far to actually shut off the tap, because that would require putting a smart-valve on the pipe. What is possible, however, is that you can get people used to a budget very quickly and easily, as in Barbara Baarsma's (Rabobank) proposal for the mandatory CO2 budget. You might even then be able to buy some budget from your neighbors.
In the United Kingdom, water is already rationed. First, of course, the bottled water in supermarkets, then probably water through the pipes will follow. This is a clear sign of things to come, and what could be better than to use what everyone really needs on a daily basis first to get used to rationing?

An acquaintance of mine from the UK reported that they are no longer allowed to use a garden hose or the like to spray plants and crops. In other words: growing your own fruit and vegetables privately is no longer allowed. I can also see hobby gardeners getting restrictions. Insane, but you and I know that. Narrative sees world destroyed by drought......
I would be handsome to create a dry fall and a dry winter. I don't rule out that it can be done, but the Netherlands is known to be quite wet. Gas and gasoline rationing would be more obvious to me. What you can do is to make crops fail in the summer by prohibiting farmers from watering their lands.
I was not smart then in 2019 somewhere I accepted the deal and had my water meter replaced with a digital one.
After fully waking up I did not accept the power and gas meter replacement.
For water, unfortunately, that is my own fault.
Right! I had just found that out a little too late.
My friend's parents are very happy about that because the consumption comes into your portal automatically.
More than once I have told them that at peak times they can disconnect you and ration you.
Meanwhile, I do have a 5000liter well that will last me a while.
Ok, very good, but what if that well is empty in a month ... who is going to fill it? The neighbor who's on water rations?
Behind us is a park with a large pond. Worst case with buckets and a wagon trying to go get water.
plusminus 200 meters from my residence and I have water filters in reserve.
I try to have as many contingency plans as possible.
We live just the outskirts of Antwerp near there are 2 parks but of course I hope it doesn't have to happen
I hear you..I already think it's a lot!
Some twenty years ago, the Flemish government required all (drinking) wells to be declared. Even then I considered this a warning sign. Civil disobedience pays off.
The Telegraph is already massaging the message https://www.telegraaf.nl/nieuws/1959860097/verspilling-van-drinkwater-wordt-mogelijk-duurder
So after gas and electricity, water too is going to be used as a weapon to extract extra money from your pocket. The media and politics (obviously 2 butts on 1 ass) bring it as if it is good for the environment and the alternative media bring it as "communism" or "control."
But as always, the winners are the big companies behind the scenes who are making this all up, because people are going to pay extra for water anyway. In the end it's only about 1 thing; money, money and more money.
On the contrary, it just makes me more creative. Collect rainwater and possibly filter it (now also on graphene oxide?!) and you have free water. Which you might soon be able to use in my soon-to-be self-built hydrogen generator.... 😛
